New HSF divers that work, but dont...
I just downloaded and installed HSF modem drivers from linuxant.com and after i restarted and recompiled the modules, i used Kppp to start a dial up connection with the modem in my Dell Inspiron 1150 laptop, the modem query finds the modem, it dials the number and makes all the cool noises, validates my login information, but then it fails to connect to the network due to the fact that it failed to open/initialize (what i think it is saying is that it cant open the browser).
I use ATTWORLDNET, does this ISP not support linux, don't think it would matter, as long as they get bit transfer and a user name/password... anyone got any ideas? You have no idea what it took for me to get to this point, so if you must say that this effort is hopeless, please humor me and say that it is impossible... that is until it someone does it... open to all suggestions, thanks folks |
I think:
1. username or password is wrong. 2. your ISP support CHAP or PAP protocol? 3. Linux or Windows use the same ppp protocol so OS not false . |
nah, it is none of those, i have a newer post on the same subject that was posted today, all of the stuff that you listed is in accordance, it is all correct, if you read the new thread, it gives more info

try running KPPP as root...see if it works then
If it does, there's a solution. I'm still trying to find out what exactly would need to be changed in order to not run the program as root. |
