So i installed giFT along with OpenFT, Gnutella, and FastTrack....I have installed all three plugins, and giFT connects, and everything, and the apollon interface works fine...
However, for some reason no resutls come up when i do a search, and also, it seems that quickly the amount of users greatly decreases. For instance, when i first open the program, there are some where around 1400 people connected, which seems awfully low to begin with, but then in just a few minutes, it drops to several hundred.
Any help that you might be able to give me would be greatly appreciated
It's been a while since I've used apollon, but there's one window that shows if you're connected, and to which networks, and how many users in each. Are the users that you see connected all in one network, or spread out evenly? 1400 is about the number of users I see in OpenFT alone, with Gnutella at about 50,000 and FastTrack around 2-300,000.
If you're only connecting in one network, you should take a look at your ~/.giFT/giftd.conf file and look for the following line:
plugins = OpenFT:Gnutella:FastTrack
It should appear exactly like this in terms of capitals/lower-case, spelling, and punctuation; though the order of the three network plug-ins is not critical.
If you're seeing 1400 users spread over the three networks, then your node lists may be out of date. The following is from the giFT QUICKSTART file:
To correct this problem you may need to examine the contents of your
$HOME/.giFT/{plugin} directories and replace the nodes or cache files that are
appropriate. For example, you can replace OpenFT's local nodes cache with the
global default provided by us by simply removing the $HOME/.giFT/OpenFT/nodes
and starting the daemon (do not remove while it is running). This may or may
not provide a higher quality nodes file depending on the age of your OpenFT
version and other factors. I wish I could be more helpful than that, sigh.
Ok, yea i am running all three networks, however, the only one that opens in the info section of apollon is openFT, the other two do not show up. I have the gift-setup file properly configured (OpenFT:Gnutella:FastTrack), and gift connects, but the only network that shows in apollon is OpenFT
Sorry, my last post was a bit off. Your problem may still be outdated nodes. So you may want to try removing (or better yet renaming, until you see if this works) the node lists for Gnutella and FastTrack.
But first you should take a look through your ~/.giFT/giftd.log file to see if you can find any info about why you're not connecting to Gnutella and FastTrack.
