New Gentoo Install boot sequence problem??
 

I've been using Slackware for about a year now, and decided that I wanted to try Gentoo.
This is my fourth attempt at an install (universal,stage 3)

(System is Intel D845, P4(1.5ghz), ATI Radeon 7500, onboard Intel Pro 10/100 NIC, onboard Intel I810 sound)

I finally made it through the install to a bootable machine, but I have a couple problems.

First, during boot this line appears ( I'll deal with the second problem at a later time)

---- /sbin/rc line 271 /sbin/devfsd/ no such file or directory (!!) ---

All other lines end in (ok)

This may not be an exact duplication of the line, but I hope you can get the idea.
Can someone tell me how to fix this or is it even a problem?

Also would add that I am using kernel-2.6.11-gentoo-r4

Did you compile the kernel yourself or did you use genkernel?

ok, well ideally you don't want to be using devfsd anymore anyway, so if things are ok, you're ok. it's messy though, and still could be an issue... are you using udev? i assume that the standard gentoo insatll uses that now. if so i'd assume you've neglected to just totally remove all comments re devfsd from your kernel config. if you run "ps ax" does it lis udev in there? if so, then for the sake of housekeeping, just quickly rebuild your main kernel image without the devfsd support. the seperate gentoo udev doc details where to remove this from if you can't find it yourself.

I used genkernel all. Does this change anything
