Man I'm happy that I finally getting some games on linux, and the game at the moment is Neverwinter Nights. Unfortunately, I ran into a little problem.
I am trying to make a launcher for NWN on the desktop so I won't have to run the terminal everytime. I have tried dragging the nwn file from my /home/username/nwn/ directory to my desktop but when i click on the icon, nothing happens. I have tried the "Run" and "Run in Terminal" choices and nothing happens. Any Ideas?
Thanks for the link Lleb_KCir, I'm probably going to check that out in a few minutes.
As for the NWN to work, I just went to the company site and read up on the instructions. The best part about NWN on linux is it requires no cd to work (but can't watch any movies) http://nwn.bioware.com/downloads/linuxclient.html
For the nwresources129.tar.gz and nwclient129.tar.gz files, the links that sites gives are either broken or require pesky regristration . So, I just scooped up this link searching on google.
Ok BIG problem. I am at a level below newb. I read the link you sent me and honestly i have no idea what is going on. I have never written a script before so it is all greek to me.
The filename "nvn" is in my "/home/pawnshark/nwn" directory.
OK I cheated some, but I got the launcher to work. I gedit 'ed at the quake3 launcher from the /usr/local/bin, changed some stuff around an *poof*, it worked. Much thanks Lleb_KCir for showing me the doorway to the fundamentals of launchers. Gee, now I know how all launchers work...
*gear slightly rotates in my head*
anyway here's what the launcher looks like
#!/bin/sh
# Needed to make symlinks/shortcuts work.
# Wrap Neverwinter Nights binary
cd "/home/pawnshark/nwn"
./nwn $*
exit $?
ill hit the site later tonight when i get home and see about getting it up and running for me. 1G ill start the download when i can. sadly i dont know enough about the CLI to do a 'get' or i would do it via putty.
