NetworkManager and DBUS policies

Hi there,

I've just finished building NetworkManager for VectorLinux 5.8.
I have DBUS 1.0.1 installed, PolicyKit 0.2 and HAL 0.5.8.

Anyway, when I try to run nm-applet, I get this error:

Code:
** (nm-applet:28559): WARNING **: <WARNING> nma_dbus_init (): nma_dbus_init() could not acquire its service. dbus_bus_acquire_service() says: 'Connection ":1.4" is not allowed to own the service "org.freedesktop.NetworkManagerInfo" due to security policies in the configuration file'
What kind of policies should DBUS enforce to allow me to use NetworkManager?

Thanks in advance.

hi there... this is mainly just a bump for your thread... but i was wondering if you solved this... sounds to me like it might have been a missing
Code:
<allow own="org.freedesktop.NetworkManagerInfo"/>
in your dbus' system.conf...

Yeah I've solved it.
I had to create a group called "netdev", and then add my username to the group and also add the group to /etc/dbus-1/system.d/NetworkManager.conf and to /etc/dbus-1/system.d/nm-applet.conf policy files (by defining a policy for netdev).
