Network Storage Photo's

Hi,

In 3 or 4 weeks, i'm going from holland too argentina for work for a year. As i'm bringing along my digital camera to shoot some pictures after work, I would like to have my home computer be used as a way too send my pictures too. I don't have enough SD cards too last a year, lol.

I would like to know which application would function best, as i'll be using pc's from an internet cafe. I don't know which apps they will allow.

So what would be my best options?

FTP ?
perhaps VNC with enabled file transfer?
SSH?

I don't want the app to get stressed because I send too much :).

I'm using Gentoo 2006.1.

I would suggest SFTP (part of SSH).

Will you have a laptop or other PC that you can connect with. If you use SFTP, you will need a program such as Putty or WinSCP if you use Windows. I have some details about setting up SSH / SFTP Here

FTP is less secure and harder to setup, however FTP clients are more common.

Neither will have any problems with large file transfers.

I hope this helps

hey,

thanks for the reply, i'll have a look at your site :). I don't have a laptop or pc at my disposal, I dont know if @ my work there is a pc to communicate too home. If there is i'll probably be able to install some stuff on it, if there isn't I'm bound to perhaps the limitations of an internet cafe pc. Anyway, i'll try setting up a SFTP, which sounds as the most usefull and safest way.

And yes, my bet would be they are using windows over there. My home pc however is linux. (gentoo2006.1)
