Network monitoring - the easy way, please


I've seen a plethora of network monitoring tools. Some have advanced GUIs or can produce web-based reports, use SQL databases to store information, etc.

Still, I haven't found one that will ONLY do the following:

Measure downloads and uploads.

That simple. Or maybe it's included in such tools but it's so basic it's not even mentionned. I'm looking for something as simple as
