I'm having problems running Netscape 7.2 on my copy of Fedora Core 3.
I have tried installing using both online and offline versions of the installer
and in both /usr/local/lib and /usr/lib directories.. but any time I attempt to
launch the executable (in either gui or command line) my system just sits
there and nothing opens.
I've previously been able to run Netscape 7.1 on Fedora Core 2

maybe the offline installer?
im a noob so my advice is paltry at best
I am having the exact same problem, Netscape works fine under other versions of Fedore; however, when I install it under Fedore Core 3 It does not work at all.
Yes I do need Netscape for some College classes that will not run under Firebox or Mozilla. Also, Netscape is working fine now. I found a posting that recommended installing the legacy software development package. What I actually end up doing was reinstalling Fedora 3, and including the GNOME development tools, and the legacy software development. The reason I did this is because I was not able to add the legacy software development package (I was getting an error message every time I tried.)
Do you know of a wireless PCMCIA card that will work with Fedora 3?

I reformatted my system and installed FC3 (as an upgrade to FC2) and chose to load all development packages. Netscape now runs beautifully!
I'm so relieved too. I couldn't stand using Firefox..the settings menus are so simplified I don't know how anyone with no experience compiling could get Flash and Java to work with that thing. Not to mention the fact that the original Mozilla that came with FC2 no longer seems to work.
