Netscape 4.75 won't go to links

I'm running RH 7.0, Netscape 4.75, GNOME
On some Web pages, eg
clicking on links on the page appears to do nothing, except that the link name changes immediately to the "been-there" colour. The link is not actually "gone to".
There are also other effects:
- sometimes, the Netscape window disappears, but `ps` shows netscape processes still exist.
- Pressing Ctrl+Alt+Fn to switch to workspace n does not work until the netscape preocesses have been `kill`ed.

The above site previously worked OK.
- Have these sites been changed in some way, or has my Netscape/plug-ins/etc setup been corrupted?
If corrupted, what is the best way to renew them?

At an earlier time, a site gave brief flashes of the Netscape message: "Javascript error", and the trouble may have started from that time.

Any clues anyone?

Netscape Q 2: Some sites, eg my bank, say they are incompatible with Netscape 6, but that 4.7x is OK. Why?

I use Mozilla and it works with my bank.

Don't feel bad - I just upgraded to mozilla 1.0 and galeon 1.2.1 and they don't go to a lot of links, too.

(Update) Flushed caches, improved things

(Thanks to the 2 people who replied to my original posting !!)

I removed all of Netscape 4.75 and installed 4.79,
but this didn't seem to help.

Then I flushed the memory AND disc caches, and I can get into at least one of the "bad" sites
( )
Netscape still says "Document done" with a blank white window sometimes, but this can usually be resolved by clicking "reload". At least I can get there eventually.

Are other browsers - Galeon/Mozilla/Opera likely to be better?

Upgrade from 4.75 to 4.79 is not a big one. It's nearly the same. I suggest bigger one - Netscape 6.2 or Mozilla 1.0.

Goto the bank with Mozilla 1.0.RC2 ver

Just tried it after reading your post and my back does not service Netscape 6 either.. probably as it is being phased out on different levels as a commercial browser. Have to see what AOL is going to do with it. I installed mozilla 1.0 RC2 and find it faster and clearer than netscape. Plus I just came from the bank with it. No matter what browser you use always delete your history and close your browser after completeing an important secure transaction. Its an easy install with the auto installer pkg ... only thing u have to install java if u need it. I don't have java on my brower yet

Install mozilla1.0.RC2 it takes me to the bank and I uninstalled netscape forever. Easy install. Just delete history, stat bloat, and memory leaks after completeing a secured transaction. Don't save any bank or creditcard passwrds on your browser and this holds for any browser you use.
