Netmeeting for Linux?
Hi!
Does anyone know a good Netmeeting Clone für Debian Linux KDE 2.2.2, but not GnomeMeeting?! (or another software for Webcams) Tnx! |
Q-SeeMe works well for Cuseemee connections but the last uild only supports black and white video. http://www.pangea.org/~mavilar/qseeme/qseeme.html
The openh323.org project has an application named OpenPhone which works pretty well for video conferencing but doesn't offer the whiteboard, file sharing etc. of Netmeeting. http://www.openh323.org/ C30 was really good but the project has been converted to a commercial solution named Qvix. You can still find the version 1.0 of C30 at http://cu30.sourceforge.net/, and information on the Qvix app at http://www.qvix.biz/index.php. But, what is wrong with Gnomeeting? |
Thank you!
Is is possible that a Windows System with NetMeeting can connect to a Linux Box and CU30 or OpenPhone? Or do they use an own protocoll? |
I believe they are compatible with version 2 and 3 of Netmeeting, but I do not believe they are compatible with the new MS Messenger for XP. However, Netmeeting 3 is installed by default on XP so this is a non-issue. You will have to update a codec on Netmeeting for it to work correctly, the instructions are available in the faq at http://www.openh323.org/fom-serve/cache/41.html .
