Exclamation NetCat 1.1 Where is it? Why doesn't it work? Somebody reply soon please

I installed NetCat, worked, then I read everywhere to run NetCat you do nc in konsole.

[understandlinux@localhost sources]$ ls
Changelog generic.h nc netcat.blurb README stupidh
data Makefile nc110.tgz netcat.c scripts
[understandlinux@localhost sources]$ nc
bash: nc: command not found
[understandlinux@localhost sources]$

What's wrong? How do I get netcat to work? Am i missing any libs or anything?

1) I'd reccomend you get a newer version of netcat here
The old version of netcat is a nightmare to read and is
quite out of date. It is/was a great piece of software.
http://netcat.sourceforge.net/

2) I'd learn how paths work
in the sources directory try ./nc

compiling does not equal installing.

3) You are not missing any libraries AFAIK.

4) Look at the error message
bash: nc: command not found

bash: <- this means it's the shell bash having an error

nc: command not found
that means bash could not find the command
not that there are libraries missing or that
the program wouldn't run
