Need XKeySymDB and libXm.so.3 for FC7

Hello all,

First, I'm completely clueless about Linux, so please forgive the rampant ignorance in this post.

As for the problem. I'm trying to run Fluent (a 64 bit CFD program) and Gambit (a 32 bit mesh generation tool) on a 64 bit AMD FC7 install. I have managed to get Fluent up an running. However, when I attempt to run Gambit, I got an error that it could not open shared libraries: libXm.so.3 - No such file exists.

Some of the google responses I've found suggest installing openmotif for FC4 to get this legacy library. However, when I try to rpm openmotif I get the error that /usr/x11R6/lib/x11/XKeySymDB is needed.

Any suggestions? Thanks so much.

Ok, so I was able to find XKeysymDB in a X-11 library rpm and then installed the 64-bit openmotif for FC4. Now I have a new error :(

New error:

error while loading shared libraries: libXm.so.3: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32

Any ideas on this new development?

Hi !

I also tried to install gambit on FC7 64 bits and receive the same error message as you. Then, I did exactly the same thing i.e. I install the following files :

xorg-x11-libs-6.8.2-37.FC4.49.2.1.x86_64.rpm
openmotif-2.2.3-10.FC4.2.x86_64.rpm

Then, I started gambit and... it opened !!! You must know, however, that it was the 64 bit version of gambit. If you are not able to get that version of gambit (if you have a license, then you should...), you could try the 32 bit version of the preceding files, but I can't confirm it will work...

Good luck !
