Need urgent help with linux router

Good evening everyone,

I am hoping you all can assist me with my problem while I am researching it online as this issue has my network down and offline.

I have a linux machine I would like to act as my router
I have 2 NIC's the on-board and a PCIe, ont is eth0 and eth1

eth1 being set to my public static IP (XXX.XXX.XXX.25)
eth0 set to my local gateway IP (192.168.0.1

now one of my problems is, with just eth1 connected, the Linux machine can access the internet, but as soon as I connect eth0 (local) It refuses to open any webpages.

second, I have created a rc.firewall file with my config and made it executable, and I have made rc.ip_forward executable. But for the like of me I cannot get the network access to the internet and I cannot browse the internet with both NIC's connected.

Please help as I said, my network is down and I need to rectify this.

Please don't mark your posts as urgent - they're only urgent to you.

As far as what is happening, more information is needed. Have you compared the nic configurations before and after plugging in the second nic? Have you checked your routing information before and after?

For your firewall script, what is it doing - can you post the firewall rules, log messages and your requirements for what it is supposed to do?

Hi, dj
Could you also tell us which distro and version you are using.
And could you post the output from
Code:
netstat -rn
with and without eth0 connected.
