Need to grab bookmarks from IE...

Ok... I am fixing a friends computer and she wants to keep all her bookmarks (amoung other files)

The problem,

Her drive won't boot (missing windows files) so i mounted it in my linux box to get all her files off her drive (and back them up) which went fine. All fine but I could not grab her IE bookmarks because they have not been exported. I can not export them because I can't run IE to do so....

Anyway I gave winex a try to see if it would run IE off the drive... that seems to have failed.....

Any ideas... she really needs the bookmarks...

Is it windows XP? 2000?

basically what you do is navigate your way to the favorites folder and copy the files (most of them are .url files on mine) that are in that folder to the backup drive.

In XP and 2000, the favorites folder is located in /Documents and Settings/username/favorites

in 98/ME the folder is called favorites but I think it is in the windows folder, can't remember for sure.
