Need to FTP Files larger than 2GB: Help!

Hey guys,

We're designing a PowerPC based system that holds large data files (up to 1TB), and have a requirement to move these files off of our system for processing via FTP. I'm trying to find a client that will work for us, but haven't had much luck so far. I've tried:

wu-ftpd: seems like a dead project, can't find source tar.gz's later than 1994
in.ftpd: what I'd like to use, but can't get it to work
vsftpd & proftpd: I'd like to keep a small footprint, but if these are the only way to go, then please point me in the right direction as to how

Thanks!

Matt

I'd use SFTP, as part of the OpenSSH suite. More secure, and a bit quicker for big files (at least in my very-informal tests here at the lab).

I have used this little tip:

http://joen.dk/wordpress/?p=34

Works great.
When a connection is abruptly terminated you can resume the download.

Thanks for the input guys! While I'd love to use something ssh based, I raelly can't for this project: the customer requires plain-jane FTP. Any thoughts on that front?

Thanks again,
matt

I use lftp ("lftp -u youruser,yourpassword 10.1.2.3"), but I don't know if it supports >2GB files. Give it a try... .

Hrmm, according to their configure script, you can enable large file support upon compilation! Brilliant! Thanks much, I'll be giving it a try.
