need server for pasting strings in X with hotkeys

i hope that topic made sense...been up all night celebrating new years here

What I would like to do, is (with the help of some local server that may be available on the internet) be able to paste, for instance, a shortcut to a URL, a signature, or even maybe even the date....paste into X within any application with a different hotkey for each. I work in a lot of programs, primarily when I'm at work....from Web browsing, email, word processing, instant messaging, etc....and it would speed my work up greatly if I could assign hotkeys to paste certain things. I don't want something like (KDE's was it?) feature to store a list of clipboard entries. That takes too much time to find and select before I could actually type it. I did a google but I don't know what to look for, if anything exists to make my life easier
