Need reminder application that runs on server and is configurable with a web UI

Hi folks,

I am searching for an application that has the capability to send me an email at a specified date with a specified text.
Since I am using several systems a local application, like kalarm, is not useful to me. I need something that can run on my home-server (currently Debian Squeeze, soon to be Slackware 14) and can preferably be used via a web UI (SSH or a client application would also be OK). Apache is running anyways on that system.

Web searches only come up with online alarm clocks, but I didn't found one that is capable of sending mails and I would prefer to use on my own server for that.

So, does anyone know of such an application and can post a link to it?

Why can't you simply set up a cron job ?

Convenience.
I don't need a reminder that occurs like every 13th day of a month, I want to be able to just do a short login, put the date and the text in a form and forget about it. When the reminder sends me a mail it should automatically delete the date and text.
If I use cronjobs for that I have to everytime fiddle with the crontab and after I got reminded delete stuff in the crontab, that is just inconvenient.

I seriously thought that someone has already implemented such a function.

Hi,

just a quick "diagram" about what can you probably do:
+ write a script to use in cron
- a script should check whether the date/time matches in some "send_me_this_file"
- if matched then send an email to "my_email_address" and delete the "send_me_this_file" (so the next one can be picked up when needed)
+ run a cronjob with another script (or the same) to check if the "send_me_this_file" exists and do it!

Thanks for that, I didn't thought about that approach (as usually missing the obvious). Definitely something that I will have to do if I can't find a pre-made solution.

Sometimes I wonder if I am the only one that uses several different machines with some convenient stuff (e-mail, files, ...) on a server, so that it can be accessed from all systems.
