Hello everyone!

I'm looking for something specific, or at least some guidance, on sound recording software.


My goals are this:

- Software that can run "behind the scenes" on startup as a service -- I don't want to have to manually start it or configure it every time it runs.
- Can start and stop recording when sound is present on the mic jack
- Store the sound bytes on the hard drive in some format, such as mp3, ogg, etc


I've already been working on some software with webcam security that activates on motion, but I want to try something similar for sound.

Does anyone know of anything like that, or know any tricks I can perform? I don't have any experience with sound software and hardware, so this is a new realm for me.

Just ran across it, I have not used it.

Zoneminder is great for motion activation. There was talk in 06 of adding audio support, no idea if it went anywhere.
