need opinions on ximian as gui for linux <--- is it first step to replace windows?

I have installed linux about 3,4 year ago running rh7.1. By then the gui was awful, there is even no pretty font in the browser to read webpages. Just recently I heard many good things about linux lately and new kde looks pretty enough, so i put rh9 back to my machine. Then i found out about ximian, which is by far the easiest desktop to use. Don't get me wrong, i am trying to be a "cool" linux user that i will do everything in a terminal as well, but still, an easy-to-use gui is the first step to gain more market share for linux on home-use. I would recommend ximian to anyone who is frustrated looking for things on kde platform. Let me know your thoughts on that.

Although I'm more of a KDE man myself, I like what Ximian's done to their GNOME desktop. Did you know as well that Novell just bought them out as well as SuSE? Things should begin to get interesting very very soon.

that's actually how i found out about ximian, it's on novell's site. I was just bored one today and surf to random places, novell had both suse and ximian on its frontpage.

i admit i was a fan of kde until ximian showed up.
