Need of a good topic for Sponsored Phd program

Hi All,

There is an opportunity in my current organization. A company sponsored Phd program for which we have to come up with a topic for this sponsored ship program.

My current organization is into automotive electronics. Please help/suggest me a good topic which I can take it forward. As of now, a good topic is enough and there will be a lot of help/support from the organization in all the ways to work on the topic.

Immediate response would be appreciated.
You've been here for four years....you should know that this is a VOLUNTEER forum, so asking for/expecting "immediate response" is fairly rude.

Secondly, you provide NO context. A topic for a "ship program"...which is WHAT? Actual ships? Shipping parts? Shipping full autos? And if this is YOUR project, why can't you come up with an idea of your own?

Good luck with your studies.

Why not work with the CAN and do a project with that?

Hi TB0ne,

Yes, you were right "Asking for immediate reply is fairly rude" thanks for correcting me and corrected the same in my thread.

FYI,

its not a ship program. Its a company sponsored activity where company supports the employees financially, helps/support the employees to complete the topic which we choose.

Hi rtmistler,

We are already using the CAN protocol in our telematics projects with boards like freescale, motorola boards etc.,

If you have any idea or some information that would help.

I don't understand why someone at work can't suggest several projects which would enhance the company as well as provide multiple ideas for your studies. In fact in many sponsoring companies, this is exactly what happens.

Sounds like the company is technical, therefore anything automotive electronics I'd suggest may be as redundant as what I've already suggested.

The ethical boundaries of/for out sourcing for ideas that the outsourcer takes not only full credit for, but too, reaps all of its rewards from the same idea or ideas of others.

...and you *STILL* haven't told us exactly what parameters are for this 'project', so again, how can we suggest any ideas that even *MIGHT* be useful???

And in your first post, you said "sponsored ship program"....what else were we to think? If you want to do a PhD, then it should be an area of study that YOU are interested in.

@OP what ideas are you thinking about? Share those thoughts and we'll respond to discuss the pros and cons. You should however be prepared to discuss these topics seriously, not just half a blurb of a thought and then expect anyone else to develop it for you. After all, you're embarking upon a SPONSORED PHD PROGRAM, and thus as a result, you're expected to be insightful where you can envision and make into reality, your ideas. After all, that's the whole point of an advanced degree such as that. I.e. You're supposed to be the teacher, not someone whose hand needs to be held by way of instruction.
