I've been using Pale Moon as a browser for years, highly customized with extensions but new changes to the PM code base has disabled most of them. I want to switch back to Firefox but would appreciate help in finding extensions to the current FF that provide similar functionality to the old ones I've been using on PM.

Tab Mix Plus -- to make all links open in a new tab

Roomy Bookmarks Toolbar -- remove text on bookmarks until hovered over

No Script -- disable all Javascript until enabled for site

Hide Caption Titlebar Plus -- removes useless titlebar and gains back vertical space -- little hope to find a replacement for this

Remove It Permanently -- remove elements from a page -- seems unavailable


Any help or suggestions appreciated. If there are better options available in Opera or Vivaldi, I'm interested. Will not use Chrome.

Ublock Origin, NoScript.

No clue about the others. Depending on your DE/WM you can hide the top bar.

That is strange, I sometimes use palemoon (v 29.2.0) and haven't seen any changes in addon compatibility.

I am using this on palemoon right now.
It's an extension from 2011 (which again would disprove your previous statement), but it isn't available in either addon store, you have to install it through the Classic Addons Archive.

However, uBlock origin is available for Palemoon, and it has the functionality of R.I.P. and Noscript built in. Recommended.

In Firefox Quantum (57+), extensions aren't allowed to do this anymore. You can still do it yourself via userChrome.css.

Thanks for the help. I didn't mention Ublock Origin because I've already loaded it. Using MX Linux, which I discovered because of Pale Moon. MX has it in the repository, and MX is what let me finally make the complete switch to linux.

I think the one extension that would seal the deal for me would be one that let me drop the text leaving the icons on the bookmarks toolbar and tighten the spacing. I've been looking at the other forks of FF but they appear to be all past the code cutoff for these old extensions of approx FF 24. It's disconcerting that "progress" in browsers has resulted in far less user control in how our browsers operate.

Then you don't need R.I.P. - use uBlock's Zap function instead (flash icon).
