Need Help With Splashy

I got Splashy just installed, nice and proper i thought but i fail to see any new fancy splash screen on boot, just terminal.
This is what i get when testing it.
Code:
 emil@emil-laptop:~$ splashy test
emil@emil-laptop:~$ FATAL: splashy_video.c <706>:
(#) DirectFBError [DirectFBCreate (&video->dfb)]: Initialization error!
My /boot/grub/menu.lst looks like this

Code:
title Ubuntu, kernel 2.6.15-26-386
root (hd0,0)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.15-26-386 root=/dev/hdc1 ro quiet splash vga=791
initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.15-26-386
savedefault
boot
where I edited it. with the vga=791.

there's also another one similar looking i noticed.

Code:
title Ubuntu, kernel 2.6.15-23-386
root (hd0,0)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.15-23-386 root=/dev/hdc1 ro quiet splash
initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.15-23-386
savedefault
boot
Should I add vga=791 there also. Or what is going on really. Help please, Im just your average Linux Noob

Please, Someone. My booting sequence is a mess. Now it says 'can't find video mode' (or similar) 'please define'at startup and if I choose something turning of the computer make the screen go nuts and flickering. and there's still no splash screens visable.
