need help with organizing contacts in Kopete

I recently switched from Mandriva 2005 LE to SuSE 10.0. While on Mandriva, I used Gaim because I could never get Kopete to work correctly. In SuSE, both work fine, but sound doesn't work for gaim. Having never used Kopete before, and being more used to Gaim/AIM, I'm having trouble figuring out how to manually sort and organize my contacts list exactly how I want it, and that doesn't tend to mean alphabetical order. Could anyone offer help on how to achieve the same level of organization with Kopete that Gaim provides? Thanks.
