I am trying to crack my networks WEP using linux and airodump. I am using an Orinoco Gold Classic made by Agere and am running Auditor Live CD.
I opened the airodump shell and entered
iwconfig eth0 mode monitor
and get the following error
"Error for wireless request "set mode" (8B06)
Set failed on device eth0: Invalid argument.
The research I did said to enter
iwconfig wlan0 mode monitor
When entering iwconfig into the shell my card is listed beside eth0.
WHat might I be doing wrong? I had read that if my card runs under kismet that it is running in monitor mode. Is this correct? Thanks.
