you will have BIG and unsolvable problems with the Now DEAD and UNSUPPORTED BT5

it it well DEAD AND UNSUPPORTED

it will never install on NEW hardware

the developers over at "offensive Security killed it off and built a NEW operating system
Kali 1.0.6
http://www.kali.org/

but Kali (like BT was ) is built BY security EXPERTS for use BY COMPUTER NETWORK AND SECURITY EXPERTS !!!

You really DO need at a minimum a 4 year CS degree and to be working on a masters in networks and security .

Please READ!! the section " Should I Use Kali Linux?"
http://docs.kali.org/introduction/sh...use-kali-linux
and the sub-section
"Is Kali Linux Right For You?"
-- to quote ---
Quote:
As the distribution developers, one would likely expect us to recommend that everyone use Kali Linux. The fact of the matter is however, that Kali is a Linux distribution specifically geared towards professional penetration testing and security auditing and as such, it is NOT a recommended distribution for those unfamiliar with Linux.

In addition, misuse of security tools within your network, particularly without permission, may cause irreparable damage and result in significant consequences.
If you are looking for a Linux distribution to learn the basics of Linux and need a good starting point, Kali Linux is not the ideal distribution for you. You may want to begin with Ubuntu or Debian instead.

for using Kali ( or it's predecessor BT)
it is RECOMMENDED you BUY the training
http://www.offensive-security.com/

BUT you HAVE TO PASS A competency test first before you register for the training

Also BT did not and Kali DOSE NOT !!! get along well running on a VM

install to the Harddrive !!!
or use it as intended for most of the time
from a ENCRYPTED usb drive as a "live" image with persistence
