Question need help :problem of filesystem


Hi,when i start up my linux,there is a problem:
fsck ext3:Unable to resolve 'label=/'
what should i do to repair it?

label=/ is an entry in /etc/fstab which should point to the device (hard disk and partition) which is the root of the filesystem.

I need to see the output of 'fdisk -l' and the contents of /etc/fstab in order to suggest a correction to make in /etc/fstab.

PS: it would also help to know which Linux distro you are using.

sorry,i cant login the system!the system worked well before until i edited the /dev/fstab.i change "label=/" from "label=/1".After that when i start up the system ,that problem happen.then i can use a command line.i tried to edit /dev/fstab back again by vi /dev/fstab.but the file opened is a new file which is empty

I would suggest booting from a live CD Linux, and running tests and repairs from there. If your Linux CD is not a "live" version, then get any one of the many choices.

i dont have a live CD,are there the other choice?
By the way,i can reinstall the system,because my system is EOL(FC6).
The room of my home path is fixed,i want to use the LVM.so i want to backup my home path,then format it,can i do it in window?
