Need help on Mandrake Linux i just installed it!


Hello, I don't know how to use this thing, i installed it so i can do some programming... How do i install windows emulator? I downloaded it and i can't even open it? Same for aim i downloaded it and i don't know how to run it. I don't know how to run the programs i download. If anyone can help me get started on my mandrake os i would appreciate it, thanks. Having lots of trouble.

what sort of file did you download
was it a. tar.gz or a .rpm or a .sh or a .bin ?

.rpm or .tgz i think, how do i run the windows emulator after i download it i installed it and it doesn't run. Is mandrake compatiable with windows program if i install the windows emulator? Please help me install it.

there's a BIG difference between the two. Better be more specific. And linux is not windows. Yes, some windows programs can be made to run, even very well, other things are trickier to impossible.

would be helpfull if you could tell us the name of the emulator your are using and the file name of your emulator install file the full name! would also help
are you using wine,winex,vmware,bochs,win4lin ...?

here are some links that may help. don't get in a hurry it takes some time to learn a new os. get familiar w/it then do some research. good luck.
