need help installing xmms

Hi, I'm new to linux. I am trying to to install xmms, on fedora core 3, using the instructions they include in the read me file.
Instructions as follows:

cd xmms-1.2.10
make install

The problem is that when I type make . I get the message: make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop.. Is there a command line I am missing somewhere, or did they just not give correct instructions for install?

You do realize xmms is part of FC3 and you can install it by using yum???

After you get yum setup and working it is as simple as;

yum install xmms-mp3
