Post Need Help Installing gnome-python-extras on SLES 10

Hello,
I am currently building my system with SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10, and am running into a snag, here. I hope that someone has the time to point me in the right direction.

I am having some problems while attempting to install gnome-python-extras. I have looked around and cannot find anything on how to correct my issue. I am attempting to build gnome-python-extras from source, and inside the gnome-python-extras, it should build the following modules, which is included inside the source:

* egg.trayicon
* gtkhtml2
* egg.recent
* gtkmozembed
* gtkspell
* gdl
* gda
* gksu
* gksu.ui

When I run ./configure, the output I receive is the only module that is going to be built is the egg.trayicon module, and the remainder of the modules will not be built. Looking into the README file, it states that all modules should be autodetected, along with their headers. If configure runs into a snag, then you should examine the config.log file. So, I did this. Inside my config.log file I have a few messages which I do not quite understand.

"failed program was: confdefs.h " -This looks to have a few constant declarations from C or C++, unsure of which one, because I have never done programming in straight C, only C++.

Another message I get is...

"failed program was:
Quote:
program main
#ifndef __GNUC__
choke me
#endif

end
I also get a few errors stating that packages such as gtkmozembed is not found. Perhaps you should add the directory containing 'xulrunner-gtkmozembed.pc' to the pkg-config search path.

I think that this is my problem, but I am unsure of how to correct it. Can anybody tell me what I can do to resolve this issue?

Thank you for your time.

You will need the header files for the other modules. If you want gtkmozembed, you will need the header file from a Mozilla product like Firefox, Mozilla, Thunderbird, or Seamonkey. If you want the gtkhtml2 module, you need the libgtkhtml header files. So on and so forth.

If you have xulrunner-gtkmozembed.pc (or any other *.pc file that isn't found)on your system, then you need to tell pkgconfig were it is because it must be in a non-standard location. In this case simply set the environment variable PKG_CONFIG_PATH to include the path to the metadata (*.pc) file that can't be found. Generally these would be found in /lib/pkgconfig, /usr/lib/pkgconfig, etc.

Hi,

I am trying to compile gnome-python-extras on Suse 10.1 to include gtkmozembed. However, I can't seem to get the syntax right. Can you give me an example of the syntax I should use? I have the xulrunner-gtkmozembed.pc on my system. How do I correctly set the path? If I do it with PKG_CONFIG_PATH=<path to ulrunner-gtkmozembed.pc> I get a complaint that the path to the python libraries is set wrong...

Thanks,

Scuppa
