need help installing emptools


i need help installing this package in ubuntu 8.04.2 lts:
emptool-0.3.4.tbz2

any help is greatly appreciated
here is the download location:

i checked the documentation and it had no info for its current version

Type in "tar xvfj <filename>", and it'll unpack the file on your hard drive. Look in that directory for documentation.

I'd guess you just run emptool in the target directory. ie

cd emptool-0.3.4
./epmtool

says it is not a directory
in the online documentation for previous versions it had strange commands
have u looked there for references

Presumably you downloaded the tbz2 file somewhere and followed TB0ne's diections to unpack it. Go to where you downloaded and unpacked and try again. "ls" command will show you what's there.

i tried it and got

NameError: name 'etlib' is not defined

I don't have a box with a gui running at present, so I'm afraid I can't run emptool at all.

ive decided to give up since i found the function i wanted hidden deep in the system
i also had similar trouble getting a fortran compiler but i got around that the same way
