Question Need help fixing my Java install

I thought I installed Java the correct way and it says it is installed but it doesn't work. All the websites I go to say that I'm missing a plug-in. It is currently installed in: /usr/java/JRE1.5.0_04 I'm guessing that this is not the correct placement for it. Can it be moved? Should I delet it? is there an uninstall? Where should it be placed if this is the problem?

Also here is a link to the wierd display that came up when I installed Java. Any feedback on this is greatly appreciated!

Since you don't say which browser you're using, I can only suggest that you go to your browser's website, and look for documentation on how to enable java in that browser. It's usually something simple like creating a symlink from the java directory to the browser directory (or an individual user's home directory).

The Firefox/Help/About Mozilla Firefox can be abit confusing and you will likely find firefox in
/usr/lib/firefox-1.0.4

So, you want to link the java plugin to the firefox-1.0.4/plugins .

Something like this...
Code:
cd /usr/lib/firefox-1.0.4/plugins
ln -s /usr/java/JRE1.5.0_04/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so .
