Need help finding an application

I am a complete newbie to this Linux thing!!
I have installed Fedora and I now want to basically set up this machine so that I can switch it on, it will boot up and log in (hopefully automatically) and start up a full screen mp3/multimedia player. I want to map my Windoze shares on to this box so that I can stream my music/films from my win server up i my attic.
Question is:
1. What apps do I need
2. How do I set up Fedora to start up and log in and start the mp3 player app?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

FC: i will assume:
1) you are using gdm/kdm/ or xdm... i think gdm will be default
2) smbfs is supported

as for windows shares, you need to put an entry into /etc/fstab -- i have one that looks like:
Code:
//patsy/psc    /home/psc/smb    smbfs    uid=1000,gid=100,credentials=/root/patsy  0  0
mp3 -- there is a liscensing/copyright obstacle of some sort when it comes to RH/FC supporting this format... you need to patch your media applications

now you need to open your 'control center' or some-such to edit gdm... i'm sorry that i can't reference this exactly for you, but if you dig through the options you should be able to find an auto-logon feature, and if you have your media player open when you log out, and say 'save settings' then it should open when you log back in

those were the graphical solutions... there are others...
