Need help editing with Audacity

Using Audacity 1.3.12-beta (Unicode)

I am trying to learn to edit files that I recorded through the sound card off the Internet. There are things like clicks, background noise between speech and also affecting speech. I also want to normalize or amplify the sound. I would appreciate any advice on this. What would be the best order to do this etc. Would it be better to normalize first so I can hear everything better then edit? Best way to clean up sound?

I also find that the aup files sound better than wav mp3 or ogg. Is this normal or can I do something about this?

Hi Joseph,
Have you had a look at the online manual? You may find the answers there. There is also a features list for version 1.3 (remember this is a beta version).
