need help a before reinstall Windows...

Ok, I know there are many threads about this issue. I did searched, and read all of them - but still unclear. So I ask again here, just to make it clear:

I currently have Windows XP and FC3 installed.
For some reasons, I need to reinstall Windows XP.
As I know, doing this will make the dual boot mode disappear.
I don't want to have to reinstall Linux and lose all my settings in Linux.

My Questions:

+ When downloading, I noticed that FC3 has a disc (the fifth one) called "recused disc". What does this disc is for? and, can it restore the dual boot mode after reinstall Windows?

+ What is the boot manager used in FC3? I heard frequently about Lilo or kind of 'GRUP' (? does it spell correct ?) - but I have no idea.

+ And the last, can you give me some advises (if possible, in detail because I'm just a newbie about Linux). Anyone have experience about this?

1)It is very important to make a boot floopy for your FC3 installation, if any thing goes wrong you could use it to get into linux.

2) You say "I currently have Windows XP and FC3 installed." and you dont know what you'r boot-loader is???.By any chance are you using the windows NT-loader to dual boot??

3) Its Not "GRUP" but GRUB. Redhat-9 came with both LILO and Grub , I am pretty sure that Fedora Core come's with both of them.

Fedora Core 2 comes with both LILO and GRUB, but installs GRUB by default. Use a boot floppy or a live cd to reinstall GRUB after windows is reinstalled and you can reclaim your boot sector.

Well, I just "suppose" I reinstalled Windows and "were unable" to load ino Linux (just kind of practice before doing things ^_^). I tried the "Rescuse disc" of FC3 and I'm able to load into FC3 - but only in shell (and from here, I have no idea what I will need to do).

No, I'm for sure it's Linux boot-loader (I installed Windows first, and then install FC3 and choose the default boot-loader setting during FC3 installation process). I just don't know what this bootloader is called (as if I know, I will have some glue to search for help ^_^). As you said, FC comes with both LILO and GRUB. So, which is the default? (I choosed the default setting when installing FC3). And in each case (LILO / GRUB) - how to make them the boot-manager after reinstall Windows? And will them recognize there is Windows installed on my system?

One more thing ^_^. I just come up with an idea: if after reinstall Windows, I "upgrade" my Linux installation. I means, put the same FC3 Linux installation disc again, but instead of freshly install, I choose "upgrade" (certainly, there will no really "upgrade" as the current Linux is also FC3) - will the installer re-set the boot manager?

If u go for upgrading your installation, it will reinstall Grub only if you upgrade the kernel.

So, what command do I need to re-install GRUB? is it difficult?
Can you tell me in detail how to do this? or is there any clear step by step instructions?

Well, at last, I take the risk to reinstall Windows and everything happen as expected: cannot access Linux. I even use System Commander 8 (which is said able to manage all OS, include Linux) - still nothing.

For sure, the Linux partition still there, but ... I try to use the recuse disc but have no idea with the "GRUB" stuff. Reading GRUB manual (http://orgs.man.ac.uk/documentation/grub/grub_toc.html) just make me being more confusing!
Can anyone help me with an short instructions?
I will wait for 1 hour and if still there is no help, I will just reinstall Linux then (I have to have Linux ready tomorrow no matter what)
