Need for VNC password, encryption when tunelling through SSH?

I tunnel my VNC through SSH2. I was wondering whether it's really necessary to keep the VNC password and encryption settings on. I can imagine more for the password, but is it really worth keeping encryption for VNC sessions? It seems to slow down the connection.

Thanks for any advice!

Anytime you encrypt something its going to slow down the end to end connection.. As for whether you should Encrypt, IMHO it depends on what you are doing over that connection, and how paranoid you are about people viewing your Data... As for the PW, I would def keep that on, its kinda like a last defense against an un-wanted connection to that box. But again this is my Opinion and everyone has one.
