Need a user-friendly but versitile way to run a web site.

I am an editor for a non-profit educational organization that has a web site. It seems that to manage a web site one must either be wealthy (and hire it done) or have a lot of programing skills (be very good at php, etc.). Is there any program for creating and running a site that is both user friendly and versatile? As an educational site, we need to be able to make a lot of articles available to people in an orderly format. Also we need a forum.

Nvu

I think you might find that a program called nvu would be a good program to help you build you web site. It is a great wysiwyg. It is very similar to dreamweaver and frontpage. Also if you are looking for a good web server I would suggest Apache. I am some what new to linux and I have found that apache is not that hard to setup and get running. I actually got Apache running quicker than I could IIS 6.

Hope this helps.

All you need to to is to get Apache+PHP+MYSql running. Installing e107 is a breeze..

Jstephens84 ? I checked out the nvu program, and it does look interesting. At some point I may use it for a personal web page.
UsualTuxpect -- I have installed Apache, PHP, and MYSql. I know that at least some of it is working because the Apache server gives me a page on ?localhost.? and it tells me the ?the Web Server software on this system is operational.? I don't know whether that includes PHP and MYSql, or how to tell. We use Ez publish on our site ? which is not on my pc. We have had some real problems with it ? not I think because it is faulty, but because we don't have anyone who is real proficient in technical matters. So I thought I would just download a version of it and learn how it works. That has been a more difficult task than I anticipated. So far I have been unable to get it up and running on my system. The aim of my current post was to find out whether we might just find a more user friendly program, and dump our material there. At this point, that does not look realistic. So we will probably be forced into hiring some professional consultation to solve the short term problems. Then I think I just need to learn all the technical stuff I need to know to take care of it in the future.
