Need a USB Fdisk tool

Hi I've run into an installation problem on a 250GB Dell Atom that I have in part deleted with a live cd using gparted. But I'm neither familiar nor do i like gparted. I prefer fdisk on a kind of dos or better yet linux boot floppy. Can someone advise how to make such a floppy type tool on USB? I want to run fdisk, scan and repair any sectors if possible. Thank you

Almost every disto has a way to install on a usb either in native form or with some usb live program.

You can usually even download a few programs on a live boot using the software manager.

Fdisk ought to be in most distro's.

I created a bootable linuxmint live usb that works but I can't scan & format the whole hard drive that has some bad sectors from within the live usb. Gparted keeps reverting settings revert back or don't stick. I'm new to using a Live Distro don't have root access since no passwords were created. How do I gain root permission on a linuxmint live usb?

I dunno about your distro, with Fedora live usb you don't need a root password, you can just open a terminal and do su -

A Mint Live CD/flash drive doesn't need a password. What you need to do is prefix whatever command you are using with sudo and then just hit Enter.

@Yancek, think I have bad sectors and want to clean hdd good to see if it fixes those sectors?
sudo command Works

Install process stops after showing Welcome Install graphics:
Read-error on swap device
Call trace:
drm_kms_helper: panic occured, switch back to text console

So I'm sitting in text console with no apparent activity?? I Rebooted. Tried setting up partitions us Gparted. & got:
"libparted Bug found
Invalid Partition table-recursive partition on /dev/sdb"
Question is this error referring to my live boot usb /dev/sdb or the hdd /dev/sda?
Found another thread say following will fix Bug found:
Code:
 sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdb bs=1M
Executed the line and now have a digital clock:02:37 over the LinuxMint wallpaper? Is clock telling me how long it will take for that command to be executed?

The Mint liveCD image has both smartmontools and badblocks. Sufficient tools to ensure the hard disk is ok prior to attempting an install.

By the way, Gparted has an icon that says something like "apply" or such. You do need to both make changes and then apply the changes.
