Need a program for extracting Ace archives
I'm using Mint Lisa with Gnome desktop environment. The default Archive Manager doesn't support Ace-compressed archives. I'll need one that supports it, and I hope it supports 7z too.

unace can extract ace archives, if you want a graphical interface then take a look at peazip + unace http://www.peazip.org/peazip-add-ons.html

Thanks. I'll see if I could get it directly from the software manager. I don't know how to do manual installations.

If they are not in your repo you could try installing the debian .deb files from the peazip page.

I recommend checking out either the unp or unar commands. These are simple front-end wrapper programs that make it a snap to unpack all kinds of archives with a single word.
You still have to install the proper backends like unace, but you don't need to bother with the details about how to use them, unless you need access to their advanced features.
