ndiswrapper compilation

I am trying to install ndiswrapper 1.59 in kali linux 3.12amd 64 which is in live cd.
I unzipped ndiswrapper and followed the instruction.
However when i execute make, it shows following error:-- No .config found in /lib/modules/3.12-kali1-amd64/build, please set KBUILD to configured kernel.

What does that mean.
I tried to create a symlink from usr/src/Linux-<version> to lib/modules/build as stated in other forums but no good since there is nothing inside usr/src. What to do now.

And one more question, whatever i do, would it be permanent or temporary since using live cd .

Thanks for help.

Unless you setup a USB drive with persistence anything installed will be erased when kali is shutdown since it runs from memory. If you want to run penetration testing then be advised you can not use ndiswrapper since it does not have the capability to put the wireless device into monitor mode.

Thanks for info

I was not aware of thus ndiswrapper fact. I have in fact Downloaded rtlwifi drivers in zip format from github but dont know how to install them. It seems in live cd there are no kernel headers. So there is no way i can use wifi. I also tried dual booting just to get all my data erased. Dont know, but there has been some issues with GPT partitioning. Installer couldn't detect my hard disk partitions. It is kinda new...

John VV .
You know, some people don't know that kali linux is a linux distro only. May be such people live in another self made world.Ndiswrapper is not a phenomenon that occur in kali only.
It is a tool for every distro.
If you can't help, go to your own boundaries.
