Ndisswrapper and BCM4401

I have a dell 700m running SUSE 9.2 and so far everything is going pretty well (got resolution problems fixed, got wireless working etc) but after installing my wireless card (Intel pro/wireless lan 2100 3B Mini PCI adapter) using ndiswrapper I can no longer use my wired connection (being a Dell BCM4401-B0 100Base-TX.) It was working fine up until I installed the wireless card, however now when an ethernet cable is plugged in I just get website could not be found. I looked in YAST under the Network card setup and I see the BCM4401.. and the Intel Pro/wireless... under "Already configured Devices." Also, I had one other question about ndiswrapper, whenever i am at home using my WAP the wireless works fine, however when I am at work and school the wireless connection does not work. I was wondering if this might have something to do with the SSID because whenever I do iwconfig the ESSID is always listed as "Shawn" when forexample my school's SSID is "WildCat." Any help on any of these questions is greatly apreciated.

I'm not using wireless yet but SCPM looks like it might be useful for you. I think that you need to set up a different network profile for home and work. I think that SCPM is a SUSE specific feature so I believe that you are in luck.

Here's an example of how to set up multiple profiles

kwifimanager looks like if might also be a useful tool.

Hope that helps.

hey, thanks youngtom I created 3 different profiles (one for wired conenction, one for wireless @home one for wireless @school) and both the wired and the home wireless work, and I havn't tried it but I think the school profile should work as well. Just in case any one else was having the same problem I went into /etc/sysconfig/network/ and changed my ifcfg-wlan... to StartMode='manual' and that allowed my wired conetion to work. In a seperate profile I have the ESSID in my ifcfg-wlan... file set to 'SHAWN' and StartMode='onboot' and that allows me to connect to my WAP at home. I will try the third profile on monday when I go to school. Thanks again though
