Unhappy ndis wrapper acting up

lately when I try to bring my wireless (wlan0) interface up, when I get the message "trying to obtain an IP address..." the computer locks up and i have to turn it off. It happens every time I issue the command ifup wlan0. It was working perfectly about a month ago and I haven't installed any new software or messed with any config files.I have a laptop with FC2 installed and kernel version 2.6.10. Does anyone have any suggestions on why this is happening or how I could fix it?

thanks

Did you change anything in the router? For instance, wep, wpa or mac address filtering?

Have you tried reinstalling the drivers for the wireless card?

I use many different APs, but it always worked fine before. No encryption is used in any of them. iwlist wlan0 scan always finds the right one with the right settings, and my wireless works fine in windows. Re-installing the drivers did not help, but I did notice that in demsg there is an entry that says something like "warning wireless event to big" even though I don't start the interface up at boot time.
