ncftp connection refused

Hi, I am trying to connect one Slackware machine to another using ncftp. sftp works but when I try with ncftp I get the error message "Could not connect to 10.253.3.141: Connection refused". I tried ncftp 10.253.3.141, ncftp -u myuser -p mypassword 10.253.3.141, but nothing worked.

Any help would be very appreciated!

Please be careful: SFTP means SSH while FTPS means FTP over SSL. FTP and SSH are clearly unrelated protocol and daemon-wise.

First reflex IMHO should be to check the servers FTP log, system logs and auth records, then the firewall rule set and then tcp_wrappers for clues.

Thanks, I will do that. It just seems weird that sftp/filezilla/etc.. works out of the box with the correct username/password/server/port, while ncftp does not. But I might have overlooked something embarrassingly simple..

Sadly the answer is the there's no SFTP support in NcFTP. A possible alternative is yafc, however, which should be available via your package manager of choice.
