Nautilus will not manage the desktop

Nautilus will not take over the desktop. I can't right click the desktop and get a menu or see any icons.

I've tried running nautilus from the command line to see if an error would appear. The only errors I see are having to do with themes. http://vpaste.net/qusT3

I checked permissions on the Desktop folder, no problems there.

Code:
[bullshark:~]$ ls -l | grep Desktop
drwx------. 5 bullshark bullshark 4096 Dec 23 18:53 Desktop
[bullshark:~]$
The same thing happens if I use nemo instead of nautilus.
