nautilus file viewer problem

I've been running gnome on rh9.0 The files in nautilus no longer automatically update thmeselves after I had a program crash. I have to press the reload button to view changes to the file system. This has now happened on both my linux boxes. Any easy way to get back the automatic update feature?
