nautilus-burner and CD size

I placed a new DVD burner in my system and I can burn CDs with it. However, when I try to burn more than 700MB of data on DVD (4.7GB) I get the message that the medium is to small and that the data do not fit on the medium. The same happens when I use K3B. How can I solve this problem?
