nano funny behavior

Hi,

I recently set up a fresh install of linux on my lappy.

Nano was working fine - select, cut, paste, search next.
Now, alt - a (select) gives me: á
And alt - v (search next) gives me: ö

I have no idea what's causing this. I have some local rc files with copy-pasted scripts, like xterm autocomplete, xterm scroll, font settings, feh background.

Xorg, openbox, some /etc/ rc?

Help.

Edit: I'm sorry. I just googled it. I guess it never worked in xterm. Solution: control - left click, check "Meta Sends Escape". Permanent fix: Add "xterm*metaSendsEscape: true" to ~/.Xresources".
