Nagios Status Question

Why are two of my hosts listed as down when the services associated with them are checking out fine? Isn't it the services that determine that status of the host?

No.

The host check and the service check are different checks.

Anyway...this is possible, for example if you blocked pings on your server....but then http and any other port checks would still work..

Ah I see, thank you.

On another note.. how difficult is it to setup a monitor for an https (443)?

bump... still wondering what the best way to monitor a https is?

Hello,

Have a look at these Nagios check plugins: NagiosExchange. Apart from just monitoring the availability of the port 443, there's one to monitor https servers with the use of a client certificate also.

Kind regards,

Eric
