Nagios + MSN Messenger

Hello Everyone!!

Has anyone ever tried to get Instant Messaging going with Nagios? I am trying to figure out how to get MSN Messenger to work as a fall back in case the email server goes down . Cant get any notifications if the email server goes lol.

Any tips will help!.

Thanks!

But then, if the network goes down MSN won't work, either ...

How about a cell-phone with USB support for alerts via SMS?

Cheers,
Tink

True! but thats if the internet goes I am just trying to just have a 2nd option if the email server goes down. MSN seems to be a pretty good option since at work we all have MSN on the BB's

Lemps,
you suck.

@kurrupt:

Im thinking about doing the same thing too, but instead i'll run ejabberd in my server and connect to it with pidgin.

Nagios is fully compatible with XMPP.

Cool msn+Nagios

Hi,

You can use the script msnp_status.pl to sent notifications of the nagios via MSN Protocol, it is on nagiosexchange site.

Any problems, contact me

Hi !!!

I have configurated Nagios y and msnp_status.pl script, tested from a console with ./ and works fine, but when Nagios send an alert message just open sesion on msn (i used msnplus who shows this event), but nothing more happens
i am using windows live messenger last version, i looks like Nagios close the session before alert is sended
Any clues about this ????

I also use google talks and receive all messages without problems

Thanks for any help

I have some examples:

http://www.vivaolinux.com.br/artigo/...o-MSN?pagina=2

check too if the nagios user can executes the script...

I also use the lastest version of messenger

Thanks for use the script

Hi,

Please, check if the contact is correctly added in your MSN. I don't have this problem until now... always missing something in configuration script...

you could use the login from msn script in your msn to only validate the login, etc...

Thanks
Victor

I also have this problem with nagios sending msn notifications.
Have read on every forum and tried everything on this thread but no luck.

I have tried to make two new hotmail email accounts, but this didn't help anything. I have checked my firewall that there isn't anything blocking the messages.

The nagios user logs on msn but the messages still not appearing. Is there anyone out there that can help us with this issue?

Regards
Thomas B
