Nagios 3 problem

Hi All.

I just installed Nagios3 today and have been reading up on it. I have run into a problem and I can't seem to find the answer yet so I am asking for your help. My "Nagios" box needs to monitor a server that is outside the firewall. That server has ping requests turned off. I setup the config file to monitor FTP which it does fine but it tells me the host is down because it is not about to ping it. Where do I turn off ping requests for that server so it is no longer reported as down? I can't seem to find the config file where I can do this. Thanks for your time and help.

from what i remember you can tell nagios to fake its 'host alive' check if you cant ping something.

Its in the nagios documentation somewhere, i know that much or google nagios fake host
