Question Nagios 2-d map cluttering

We are setting up Nagios to monitor a quite large network (say 6000 hosts in 1500 hostgroups).
Everything works ok, but as we add hosts (now we have about 900 objects) 2-d maps are cluttering out of readability and page generation is becoming too slow.
Is there anybody who faced a similar problem and got a solution?

Thank you.

No, we have no solution to the problem.
We rewrote the discovery rules but with little results.
So we moved the whole thing to a more powerful server (IBM x225). Still slow but useable.

Bye
